What you should know about traveling to Miami with kids

We’re getting into the perfect time of the year to travel to Florida with kids, and Miami is one of the best choices- whether you’re traveling with toddlers or teenagers. If you like the idea of enjoying everything Miami has to offer with your family this year, here are some top tips to consider:

Choose when to go

Most people love to visit Miami from January to April. It’s easy to see why- the holidays are finished and most states are still freezing. However, if you’re interested in saving some cash and avoiding some of the crowds, now’s the time to go. September to December can be a little humid, but you’ll also find it much cheaper.

Don’t forget transportation

For most people with kids, it’s a good idea to rent a car in Miami. This will allow you to easily get between attractions without needing to use a taxi or public transport. There’s no question that Miami is a driving city, and you’ll find it much easier to be able to immediately get to your hotel from the airport and then enjoy the freedom that having your own wheels will give you.

Make a rough itinerary

This doesn’t need to mean that you lock down your schedule, but it’s a good idea to make a list of the main things you’d like to do as a family and assign them a date so you can see if you can fit them in. Don’t forget that some attractions will need to be pre-booked and some will need you to purchase tickets, so it’s a good idea to begin to do this as soon as you’ve booked accommodation.

Not only is Miami home to some of the best beaches around, but it’s also a place where you’ll find great museums. For this reason, make sure your kids get enough time to play. There are many great interactive exhibits in the children’s museums, and Miami is also home to many different playgrounds to help you enjoy that great weather.

Explore the surrounding area

If you book a car rental in Miami via Miles Car Rental, you’ll be able to get out and see some of the surrounding area. There are many attractions within a short driving distance, and we all know how much kids love road trips when they have plenty of time to pull over and play at a playground or eat a snack on the beach.

You can easily choose a route that features some landmarks, check out the Everglades or Fort Lauderdale, or even head up to Orlando to hit the theme parks.
