Beauty trends change – and what is in today may not be as popular next year. And while the shape of a woman’s body may have changed in the eyes of fashion, there’s one thing that has always been considered to be beautiful: good skin.
The good news is that you don’t need expensive cosmetics to have a beautiful skin. In fact, you can get really good a treatment by simply using what is in your cupboards and refrigerator. How to do this? What are some of the best, cheapest and most efficient homemade skincare treatments? Here are some of our favorites:
Yogurt is amazing at smoothing the skin and making it look more illuminated. To make it antiseptic (great for mixed and oily skin), add cucumber and/or lemon jest to a few spoons of yogurt and spread them on the skin on the face, neck and décolletage. Leave it for 5-10 minutes and wash off with warm water to remove the mask.
Delicious and really nutritious, bananas are a great treatment for your skin as well. Simply mashing a banana and applying it on your face will leave your skin smoother and more moisturized. To make your mask even more efficient, add a bit of lemon jest and a bit of honey to your mix. This will illuminate the skin and it will also eliminate bacteria on the face.
As one of the healthiest types of cereals out there, oatmeal is commonly found in all households and supermarkets – so you should have no issue whatsoever finding it in your own home too. What you may not know is that oatmeal is not only for breakfast, but that it is great for the skin as well.
Mix ½ cup of hot water with 1/3 cup of oatmeal and leave them to settle. Add 2 tablespoons of yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey and 1 egg white to the mix. Blend the ingredients together, apply on the face and remove it with warm water after about 10-16 minutes. This mask will rejuvenate the skin and make it look brighter and more energized!
Full of vitamins and really healthy for the entire body, lemons are a great way to make your skin look better as well. For a brilliant homemade exfoliating mask, mix just the zest of one lemon with about ¼ almond or olive oil and apply it on the face. Remove after about 10 minutes with warm water – your skin will feel and look much better, as it will be cleaned off impurities and hydrated as well.
Surprised? Coffee grounds are not just for the world’s favorite hot beverage – they are for the skin as well. Simply take some coffee grounds and scrub them against the face to remove dirt and impurities. Also, use the same simple (and cheap) scrub for the rest of the body to vitalize the skin, make the blood circulate better and fight off cellulitis as well.
