New York is a city that I could visit again and again and never get tired. The people, the culture, the excellent public transport, and the many things to do make it the perfect place to explore whether you’re with friends, a loved one or travelling solo.
New York just has an energy to it that you’ll find hard to find elsewhere. The hustle and bustle, the plethora of languages and cultures, the weird and wonderful people, and, of course, the interesting sights make it the place to go if you’re looking for a vibrant city.
When you’re holidaying in a new place, you’re probably going to want to experience the nightlife. This is one of the reasons why New York is such a great place for travellers, since the bars are open all night- whether you’re a fan of clubbing, prefer a swanky cocktail bar, or like to hunker down in a dive bar with a few friends.
There’s nothing I hate more when I’m having a great night, than having to leave a bar or club at 1 or 2am. There’s a reason why New York is known as the city that never sleeps, and you’ll be guaranteed to meet people from around the world, which is one of the reasons why the Facebook account Humans of New York is so popular- since everyone has a different story and a reason why they’re in New York.
History buffs will love this city, and New York has some of the best and most popular museums in the world. From MOMA to the Guggenheim, the Met to the Museum of Sex, you’re bound to find a museum that’ll interest you, and checking out the museums is actually far more budget-friendly than you would think.
If you’ll be in town during summer, you’ll be in luck, as the city truly comes alive. New Yorkers love to spend their free time outside, and you’ll be able to enjoy Shakespeare in the Park, Summer Stage, Lincoln Centre Out of Doors and River to River. These are free concerts and events held in the city, and you’ll also find that if you just want to visit some of the neighbourhoods and places you’ve seen on your favourite shows, all you need is a subway pass and your camera for a fun day out.
Central Park is a must visit, and it’s a great place to grab a bite to eat and people-watch. If you really feel like playing tourist. Head up to the top of the Empire State Building, visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, wander through the zoo, and buy a hotdog or pretzel from a street cart.
If you’re arriving into New York after a long flight, the last thing you’ll feel like doing is getting a cab or working out where you need to go on the subway. Instead, be sure to book your airport transfers through Blacklane so you can easily get to and from the airport without any fuss.
